THE ROLE OF ENERGY RESOURCES IN THE PRESENT ECONOMY

When we think about energy resources we always relate them with the secondary sector of economy. This is wrong. The energy resources are also used in the primary and tertiary sector. In this section we are going to explain how they influence each economic sector in particular and their influence over the economy in general.

a)      The relationship between energy resources and the primary sector.

From the beginning of agriculture in the Neolithic Age, men have seen the necessity of any kind of energy to move their animals or bring the water to land. Energy resources are still necessary. Not only for agriculture but also for other primary activities.

For example, oil is used to move tractors, to keep chickens warm, to light the mines, to collect wood or to go fishing.
