Puerto Rican Literature in the United States                                  -                       Latina Women Writers in the United States

US Latino Literature is not a recent phenomenon. From the 19th century Chicano writers have been creating literary works which narrate the complex relationship between the Latin and Anglo-saxon cultures.

Since the 1960s Latino/a Literature has become one of the major literary manifestations within North American Literature. The themes and the style that is present in these works testifies the emergence of a consolidated literary corpus that goes back to the origins and, at the same time, it portrays a new experience of being American.

Latinos are quite different among themselves and this is reflected in their literary production. In this site we will explore these differences and how each group translates their own particular experience to their work.  Special attention will pe paid to the literary influences coming from both literary traditions, Anglo-saxon and Latin American and the development into a new literary discourse that we can properly call " US Latino."
