En el marco de la visita que han realizado hoy miércoles a la Universidad de Huelva los rectores de las universidades que integran la Alianza Universitaria Europea PIONEER, ha tenido lugar el acto de Firma de la Declaración de la Misión y Objetivos dicha alianza.
El proyecto PIONEER está orientado a la creación de una alianza europea de universidades que trabajarán enfocadas al objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible 11 Ciudades inclusivas, seguras, resilientesy sostenibles. Se trata de poner la capacidad formadora, el potencial de investigación e innovación y la capacidad para co-crear con los ecosistemas locales, al servicio de la consecución de las ciudades del futuro. Esta alianza está coordinada por la Universidad Gustave Eiffel de Francia y además forman parte de ellas otras nueve universidades de muy diversos países europeos y la Universidad de Huelva.
Tras el acto de firma, la rectora de la Universidad de Huelva, María Antonia Peña, ha declarado que “hoy es un día muy importante para la UHU, pues pocas veces hemos recibido en nuestra Universidad un elenco de representantes de universidades europeas tan importantes como hoy”. Concretamente nueve universidades europeas que, junto con la UHU, “vamos a solicitar a la Unión Europea la conformación de un consorcio, la Alianza Universitaria Pioneer. Tenemos representantes de Eslovaquia, Holanda, Italia, Finlandia, República Checa, Suiza, Alemania, Portugal y Francia, que es nuestra coordinadora. Es decir, una representación muy importante de Europa que simboliza la apuesta que tenemos en la UHU por el proceso de internacionalización. Y no solamente ya entendido como habitualmente lo hacemos, como el intercambio de profesores o estudiantes que se mueven, sino especialmente con la idea de conformar un consorcio que nos ayude a construir grados interuniversitarios europeos y a desarrollar una investigación mucho más potente”.
El año pasado ya se consiguió una puntuación muy alta de la Unión Europea, “un sello de excelencia y esperemos que en esta edición finalmente también se apruebe y que podamos ya continuar avanzando”.
Es también un consorcio importante “porque su objetivo es la implementación del ODS número 11: trabajar por las ciudades resilientes, seguras e inclusivas”. Y esto permite “que la UHU se reconozca perfectamente en él, porque somos una Universidad muy arraiga al territorio con una gran vocación de servicio público y que, particularmente, trabajamos por el bienestar de nuestra ciudad y de nuestra provincia”, ha manifestado Peña.
En esta línea, también “podemos reforzar la colaboración con las en entidades y empresas de nuestro entorno, gracias a la Alianza Pioneer. Así que tenemos los dedos cruzados para obtener este año una puntuación que nos coloque ahí ya en igualdad de condiciones con el resto de consorcios europeos”.
Por su parte, Agnes Jullien, vicerrectora de Internacionalización de la Universidad Gustave Eifel de Francia, ha manifestado que “mi universidad se agrupó hace unos años y ahora mismo llevamos unos años dedicándonos, sobre todo, a las ciudades del futuro. Estamos convencidos de la importancia que tienen las uniones y las alianzas y cuando hace unos años vimos la convocatoria europea Erasmus sobre alianzas de universidades europeas, nos dimos cuenta que teníamos que asistir”.
Para la Universidad Gustavo Eifel “es gran oportunidad poder trabajar conjuntamente con las otras nueve universidades europeas que formamos parte de la alianza y trabajar con los estudiantes hacia este objetivo”, ha declarado.
En esta línea, “vamos a abordar la educación basada en retos y vamos a trabajar conjuntamente con nuestro entorno, con los ecosistemas locales de las treinta y tres ciudades que están representadas en la Alianza, además de la investigación”.

The University of Huelva, along with nine other European universities, met in Huelva to continue advancing the Pioneer Alliance.
As part of the visit made to the University of Huelva this Wednesday by Rectors from the universities belonging to the European University Alliance PIONEER, the signing of the Declaration of the Mission and Objectives of the Alliance took place.
The PIONEER project is oriented towards the creation of a European alliance of universities focused on Sustainable Development Goal 11: Inclusive, Safe, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities. The goal is to contribute to the development of future cities by focusing on educational possibilities, research and innovation potential, and the ability to co-create with local ecosystems. This alliance is coordinated by the Gustave Eiffel University in France and includes nine other universities from various European countries, including the University of Huelva.
After the signing ceremony, the Rector of the University of Huelva, María Antonia Peña, stated, "Today is a very important day for the UHU, as we have rarely hosted such important representatives from European universities at our university." Specifically, nine European universities, along with the UHU, "are requesting the creation of a consortium, the Pioneer University Alliance, from the European Union. We have representatives from Slovakia, the Netherlands, Italy, Finland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, and France, the coordinator of the project. In other words, it is a very significant representation of Europe which symbolizes the commitment of the UHU to the internationalization process; not only in terms of typical student and professor mobility exchanges, but especially concerning the creation of a consortium that will help us build interuniversity European degrees and conduct far more robust research."
Last year, the European Union awarded them a very high score, "a seal of excellence, and we hope that this year it will be approved as well so we can continue advancing."
It is also an important consortium "because its objective is the execution of Sustainable Development Goal number 11: working for resilient, safe, and inclusive cities" which the "UHU completely identifies with, given the fact we are a university deeply rooted in the territory and with a great inclination for public service; in particular, we work for the well-being of our city and province," Peña stated.
In this regard, we can also "strengthen our collaboration with organizations and companies in the local area, thanks to the Pioneer Alliance. So, we are crossing our fingers that we are given a score this year that will put us on equal footing with the rest of European consortia."
In her own words, Agnes Jullien, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the Gustave Eiffel University in France, stated, "My university formed a few years ago, and for some years now, we have been dedicated, above all, to the cities of the future. We are convinced of the importance of unions and alliances, and when we saw the European Erasmus call for alliances of European universities a few years ago we, we knew we had to participate."
For Gustave Eiffel University, "it is a great opportunity to work together with the nine other European universities that are part of the alliance and work with students towards this goal," she affirmed.
In this regard, "we will take on Challenge-Based Learning and work together with our environment, along with the local ecosystems of the thirty-three cities represented in the Alliance, in addition to research."
