Llegar\u00eda a la pen\u00ednsula, en concreto a Ayamonte, en 1888 bajo el nombre de \u201c<em>Tarrafa\u201d<\/em>. Un aparejo hecho de algod\u00f3n para el que en principio se usar\u00edan galeones de peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o, pero con el tiempo se ampliar\u00edan otros de mayor desplazamiento.<\/p>\n<p>La definici\u00f3n de Gale\u00f3n que da Ediciones Garriga en su enciclopedia general del mar es \u201c<em>una embarcaci\u00f3n que emple\u00f3 en la pesca de la sardina con arte de cerco y tra\u00ed\u00f1a, siendo rasa y fina de proa, llevando mayor carga a popa\u201d<\/em> pod\u00eda hasta 15 remos a cada lado y 2 o 3 personas por remo. Hacia el 1900 aparece junto al gale\u00f3n una versi\u00f3n m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a llamada galeoncillo y que precisaba solo de 5 o 6 marineros para su funcionamiento y contaba tambi\u00e9n con un m\u00e1stil desmontable y una vela latina.<\/p>\n<p>En Ayamonte el primero despacho se produjo en el a\u00f1o 1910. El gale\u00f3n llamado \u201cNuestra se\u00f1ora de las Angustias\u201d sali\u00f3 a la pesca de la sardina con 38 tripulantes.\u00a0Hay una lista de galeones inscritos en Ayamonte a partir de 1903 con una media de 10 TRB. Otra los galeoncillos que tienen unas 6,9 TRB de media. No se sabe exactamente donde atracaban los galeones en Ayamonte, pero se cree que podr\u00eda ser en canela o en la playa.<\/p>\n<p>El trabajo dentro del gale\u00f3n era duro: si hac\u00eda viento la vela latina serv\u00eda para navegar, pero con calma hab\u00eda que remar hasta llegar a un banco o de vuelta al mismo puerto. Cuando se encontraba el banco. se largaban las redes formando un copo y r\u00e1pidamente se sub\u00edan a bordo. Durante el desarrollo de dichas faenas los marineros entonaban canciones que a veces les ayudaba a mantener el ritmo a la hora de rimar.<\/p>\n<p>A partir de 1910, comienzan a instalarse m\u00e1quinas de vapor, permitiendo construir embarcaciones\u00a0 de mayor desplazamiento y registro bruto con 50 o 60 marineros.
