It is called Research Network of Europa's southwest (RISE), and is a daughter of the University of Huelva. The importance of this project takes root in that it will allow the creation of a system that includes the cross-border territory trained by Huelva, Seville and Cadiz and the different Portuguese districts of the Algarve and baixo Alentejo. And the aim, to stimulate joint activities, as well as the transference of knowledge between the reginons implied to stimulate the economic and social competitiveness between them, with the creation of employment as one of the most basic priorities. |

The Room of Seminars of the Central Library of the University of The Algarve received last April 22, 2009, the first meeting of the groups of research involved in the project. The meeting began, in plenary session, with the receipt of all the participants, to which was followed with a brief presentation of the project RISE - Network of Research of Europa's Southwest, specially to level of activities, aims, calendar and approved budget.

On March 17, 2009 there was celebrated in the facilities of the Chief of Row - University of Huelva - the first meeting of the Political Committee and the Management committee and Management of the project. At the meeting they were present, in addition representatives of the University of Huelva, the University of the Algarve, Beja's Technical Institute, the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology and the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia.
