Guillermo Galán Vioque was born in Seville in 1969. He studied Classical Philology at the University of Seville, where he received his Ph. D.  in 1996. He has taught at the Universities of Seville, La Rioja, and currently in Huelva, where he is Professor of Greek. He has been visiting research at the Universities of Michigan, London, Cambridge and Oxford. He has worked on rhetoric in the sixteenth century Greek and Latin epigrammatic literature. Currently he is studying the manuscript transmission of Theocritus and prepare a critical edition of the Idylls for Alma Mater, the collection of Greek and Latin authors of the CSIC .

Guillermo Galán coordinates the work on Greek sources for the research project of Ovid's Metamorphoses.
