UNIT OF CELLULAR ALTERATIONS BY EXOGENOUS AGENTS

The thematic line “Cellular Alterations by Exogenous Agents” studies structural and metabolic changes that occur in cells and tissues in response to their interaction with the environment in relation to human health. This research line includes the analysis of biomarkers for early cancer detection, cellular and histopathological modifications due to exposure to environmental contaminants in living organisms, and biosecurity assays for new nutraceuticals. The studies encompass both in vitro (cell lines) and in vivo (research model animals).

The line is funded by the resources of 5 currently active research projects, both public and private. The research is conducted in the facilities of the Faculty of Experimental Sciences at the University of Huelva and at the Provincial Hospitals Juan Ramón Jiménez and Infanta Elena in Huelva.
