To introduce PhD students to the theoretical and methodological contents of the Strategic Management discipline. To show its evolution, current situation and future perspectives, as well as the potentialities of this discipline for researchers and its managerial implications, especially in the tourism industry.


Theory and practice, with cases and practical applications based on the discipline theoretical foundations. The students will be encouraged to participate and so enrich the contents of the course with their personal experiences, transferring the concepts learned to their own professional realities and research needs. The methodological itinerary in the development of the sessions will be synthesis-analysis-synthesis.

SPECIFIC (1.5 credits)

Strategic Management of Human Resources, to be taught by Dr. Mª Jesús Moreno-Domínguez (domin@uhu.es)


The criteria will be the following:

  • Attendance and constructive participation during the sessions. 80 percent of attendance will be demanded as a minimum requirement.

  • An individual paper and its presentation.

  • If the student performance wasn’t good enough according to the previous criteria, a final examination will be scheduled.
